My name is Laurie Almond and this will be my second season working for Niseko Black. I have worked in the snow sports industry for 7 years, as an instructor, race coach, mogul coach, lift operator, ski technician and boot fitter.
I started skiing from a young age in Andermatt, a small resort in Switzerland and the home of a dear family friend. Skiing soon became a serious passion and whilst attaining my instructor qualifications I competed in Slalom, Mogul, and Skiercross competitions. I have now had many years’ experience instructing clients of all ages and abilities. Having completed various mountain safety assessments, I have now become rather addicted to seeking out the famous champagne powder of Japan.
Fitness is extremely important to me. It helps to keep me physically and mentally focussed. I have completed various mountain challenges including the 14 peak Snowdonia 3000s in the UK, speed climbing Toubkal, North Africa’s highest mountain, and this summer I ran up Mt. Yotei which is Niseko’s outstanding Volcano.
The mountains are calling now and I’m very much looking forward to meeting you all very soon!
